Step with care and great tact, and remember that life’s a great balancing act. - Dr. Seuss
Before you head out the door do a final check to make sure all that you need is ready and accounted for! This task will only take a few seconds and you won’t regret you took the time to make sure you have everything!
I want to go over a few things to consider that will make your day as stress-free as possible. Other than making sure your outfit is pressed/steamed the number one thing to make sure is ready to go is, the other people in your photo. If you’re the only one in the shoot, well check that off that off the list. Arriving on time and with time to spare helps keep everyone in a good mood and ready for the photoshoot.
Depending on your shoot, there might be important props that you want to have photographed, so make sure you have those crucial items!
Avoid the rage. You know what I’m talking about. It’s been hours since calories have been consumed so everything is just so stressful and upsetting. Eating tree bark is becoming a viable option at this point because how hungry you’ve become. Avoid being Hangry and make sure snacks are brought along and something to wash it down with, hopefully water. Also sometimes depending on your group, some of the party members might perform well with a snack incentive.
Another thing to consider is having a can of hairspray or styling product on hand. Sometimes the weather can be a little unpredictable and your hair can easily become the victim. This is also where having water on hand might go a long way to help rinse off your hands if you have to shift to hairstylist mode.
The last thing to consider is consulting a navigational system to give you an estimate of how long it’'ll take to travel to the photo location. I always like to suggest adding an extra 15 minutes to the estimated time because in some cases, finding parking is not an easy task. On that note, some locations might require payment for parking so make sure you have cash on hand for some of those ‘cash’ only spots.
One last 'life-hack’. If you have members that are notorious for running behind, there’s no judgment for fibbing a little and telling them the shoot is 30 minutes earlier than it is actually scheduled.
